EDMONTON BASED FULL & PART TIME HOT SHOT DRIVERS NEEDED


Oil City Express is currently recruiting for full time and part time on call Hot Shot Drivers based in Edmonton. The successful candidates will be responsible for picking up and delivering hot shot freight from and to various locations between Edmonton and locations within AB, BC, and SK (from time to time even further, as required, to anywhere in Canada.) The incumbent is responsible and accountable for knowing and working in accordance with the Oil City Express Health and Safety and company policies as well as Commercial Vehicle Regulations.


Please note that due to the nature of hotshotting, these are on call positions with erratic work hours based on the 24/7 on call nature of the work and ideally suited to someone that can accommodate this kind of work schedule.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities / Skills Required:

- Operating commercial vehicles from a half ton pickup to a RAM 5500

- Sometimes towing from a 20ft bumper pull to a 38ft gooseneck trailer

- Completing daily driver logs in accordance with Hours of Service Regulations

- Complete and fill out pre trip inspections

- Properly securing loads on deck trailers

- Ensure vehicle is properly equipped and in proper working order daily

- Give proper care to the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

- Follow the scheduled plan for each load

- Inform your supervisor of any deviations or delays for any reason

- Maintain shipping documents, properly signed off with all required info

- Maintain professional and courteous driving habits at all times

- Driving to conditions including strictly following speeds and rules of the road

- Be alert to risks and threats to prevent incidents and/or losses before they occur

- Must be flexible and work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment

- Must be attuned to rapid response time when called out


Work and Pay Schedule / Hours:

- 24/7 call out (or inform Supervisor of hours you would be available)

- Starting pay rate is $22.00/hr and up, based on vehicle type used and experience

- Pay period is bi-weekly (Sun to Sat) and payday is Fridays


Minimum Qualifying Requirements:

- min 1-3 years direct or related experience in industry preferred

- paid training will be provided

- clean drivers abstract with no more than 2 demerits

- class 5 licensed with min of 5+ years driving experience

- good work attitude with high focus on customer satisfaction

- attention to detail / paperwork accuracy

- good working knowledge of log books, hours of service, federal NSC regulations

- CSTS and OSSA or BSO/CSO is required

- Ability to clearly speak, read and write English is required

- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

- Drug and Alcohol test will be required

- Due to customer requirements you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

- Must have own reliable cel phone with ability to take/send pics of paperwork


Working Condition Considerations:

There are often occasions when the individual may come into contact with dust due to the site’s conditions and with fluids from the vehicles such as windshield washer, coolant and oil. You may also be exposed to loud noises, hot, cold, wet, dry, weather conditions and muddy, slippery, icy ground surfaces. Depending on weather and locations, road conditions can be hazardous.

FORT MCMURRAY CLASS 1 DRIVER NEEDED

Oil City Express is currently recruiting for an experienced Class 1 Driver in Fort McMurray. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering freight from and to our Fort McMurray warehouse from and to our customers. This may include but not be limited to:

- delivery in the city

- delivery to and from oil sands sites

- load switch outs in Wandering River

- periodic trips to Edmonton

- after hours and/or weekend emergency callouts


You are responsible and accountable for knowing and working in accordance with the Oil City Express Health and Safety and company policies as well as Commercial Vehicle Regulations. This is a permanent full time position located in Fort McMurray.

- Start times daily are typically 7-8am but you may be asked to start earlier/later as necessary

- Finish times daily are dependent upon freight volumes and other factors and can vary daily

- Pay periods run two calendar weeks, cutting off on Saturday evenings payday on following Friday

EDMONTON BASED PART TIME CLASS 1 DRIVER NEEDED 


Oil City Express is currently recruiting for a PART TIME experienced Class 1 Driver based in EDMONTON. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering freight to and from a variety of locations including our Fort McMurray depot. These loads can be 53ft van or 53ft flat deck. Destinations may include but not be limited to:

- within the city of Edmonton and surrounding areas

- Fort McMurray or north oil sands sites

- Calgary, Jasper, Prince George, Grande Prairie

- Periodically further locations out of province (SK or BC)

You are responsible and accountable for knowing and working in accordance with the Oil City Express Health and Safety and company policies as well as Commercial Vehicle Regulations. This is an ON CALL PART TIME position based in EDMONTON but has the potential to work into a full time position over time.


Primary Duties / Responsibilities / Skills Required:

- Operating tractor with 53ft van or step deck

- Knowledge of load securement

- Completing daily driver logs (soon to be ELD's) in accordance with Hours of Service Regulations

- Completing trip inspections

- Ensure vehicle is properly equipped and in proper working order daily

- Give proper care to the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

- Follow the scheduled plan for each load and inform your supervisor of any deviations for any reason

- Maintain shipping and loading documents, properly signed off with all required info and kept in good order

- Maintain professional and courteous driving habits at all times, driving to conditions

- Be alert to risks and threats in order to prevent incidents or losses before they occur

- Must be flexible and work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment

- Sometimes be available at short notice for emergency call outs

- Some trips are pin outs, some are live unload by the driver


Work and Pay Schedule / Hours:

- Runs are primarily Monday to Friday with some weekend work

- Typically overnight driving (9-11pm departures typically, driving overnight)

- Depending on trip lengths, "resets" may periodically be required in the truck sleeper

- Pay periods run two calendar weeks Sun to Sat payday on following Friday

- Pay rates can be discussed during interview based on experience and qualifications

- Some trips are flat rated, some are hourly
